Our course combines theoretical instruction with hands-on practice in an operational salon, giving participants a full range of professional skills.

Course Structure

The course runs for 8-10 weeks and comprises 160 hours of training: 50 hours of theory and 110 hours of practice. Classes are held on weekdays, with weekend sessions available by prior arrangement. The course is conducted in the Czech language.

During the course, participants will learn to:

• Prepare dogs for grooming: bathing, drying, and brushing;
• Handle professional grooming tools: scissors, clippers, combs, and other equipment;
• Perform grooming for dogs of various breeds and coat types (long-haired, medium-haired, curly, and wire-haired);
• Apply basic knowledge of cosmetology, anatomy, and veterinary essentials;
• Use trimming techniques and maintain coat care according to hair type;
• Communicate effectively with clients and provide professional advice on pet care.

Course Format and Conditions

Classes are conducted in small groups of up to 5 participants, allowing for individual attention. All necessary tools and grooming products are provided by the salon. Students are only required to bring work clothing and suitable footwear. We can also provide guidance on purchasing professional equipment if needed.

Special emphasis is placed on animal welfare and safety. Participants learn not only technical skills but also safe, gentle, and respectful handling of pets.

Who the Course is For

This course is designed for individuals wishing to open their own grooming salon or start a professional career in pet care. The profession of a groomer requires patience, physical stamina, and ongoing professional development. Upon completion, participants acquire practical skills ready for immediate application in a professional setting.

Course Fees

The cost of the course, including the final certification, is 50,000 CZK. The course is not subject to VAT.

The fee includes:

• Study materials;
• Tools, supplies, and grooming products used during the course;
• Access to professional equipment;
• Conducting the final exam.

Accommodation and meals are not included.

Final Exam and Certification

The course concludes with a final exam, conducted over 2 days, 8 hours each day.

Upon successful completion, participants receive a Certificate of Professional Qualification “Dog Groomer” with the state emblem and the stamp of the authorized person.

The exam consists of:

• Theoretical part – a written test and oral exam, covering dog anatomy and physiology, basic first aid, parasite prevention, disinfection procedures, and nutrition;
• Practical part — full grooming procedures, including bathing, drying, brushing, haircutting, and trimming. Participants demonstrate proper animal handling, hygiene, and zoohygiene standards.

All candidates seeking professional qualification are eligible to take the exam without mandatory course attendance. For course participants, a minimum attendance of 80% is required to be eligible for the final exam.

All animals for the practical part are provided by Pets & SPA Grooming Studio.

After passing the exam, graduates receive the certificate and recommendations for purchasing professional tools, grooming products, and equipment to start working in their own salon immediately.
